This solution seems only to work when checking for photos not in "normal" albums. I started to replace those albums with smart albums based on rules taking into account keywords (or combinations of keywords). As soon as I deleted the previous "normal" album my check album with the rule "album is not any" showed the photos I had in that album, despite the fact that those photos were now in a new smart album.

Could you confirm this observation and is there another solution to really check if a photo is not in any album be it smart or not.

System is 10.11.6, Photos is 1.5

thank in advance

Of course it only works on albums not on smart albums - think about the impossible situation to have a smart album for all photos not in any smart album - as soon as the photos is added to the smart album it immediately has to be taken out because it now is in a smart album and then it imediately has to be put back since it no longer is in any album - repeat until infinity
